C.A.S.A. Events Diary

This page provides information about our forthcoming events, all of which do require pre-booking. We normally aim to run 12 to 14 events during the year, numbers at each event may be restricted. Details of recently held events can be found here.

The first section shows the current events for which bookings can be made now. The final section contains advance information about future events which are still in the planning stage - details may change - significantly!

Please note any 'last booking date' shown for an event, if none is shown then we need to receive bookings a minimum of 7 days before the function.

Tips/Gratuities:

We have previously included an allowance for this in the advertised price, however following suggestions from members this policy has changed. For all events AFTER the 2024 AGM we will no longer do this. Instead we will 'pass the hat' around towards the end of the event to collect a completely optional gratuity which will go directly to the staff.

We are unable to accept any plastic cards or cheques in payment at events which are thus "cash on arrival" only.

Driving directions to the venue and a road map will normally be added to the description about 10 days before each event. If you want a 'personal' copy of the instructions for an event please use the contact-us page to request a PDF version, at least two days in advance please.

We always try to provide 'GPS' and 'What Three Words' location information, these are usually for the best parking place rather than the inside of a restaurant and may be more accurate than any provided by other sources - we do check them! If using a 'search' function to find an event (e.g. Google a restaurant) make sure it gives you the correct place - there may well be two places with the same name in the same general area.

Dinner at O Tasco

near Mexilhoeira Grande

We return to this very popular traditional Portuguese family-run restaurant where we enjoyed a delicious meal last year.
For those who haven’t been before, the restaurant is in a quiet setting in the hills away from the busy town of Portimao and the coastal strip and is perfect for a summer evening meal

Main Course choices

Grilled prawns with rice and salad;
Turkey stroganoff with rice;
Grilled chicken breast with mushroom sauce, fries & vegetables;
Pork medallions with pepper sauce, fries & vegetables;
Grilled fish (bream or sea bass) with potatoes & vegetables;
Vegetarian choices – Vegetable Curry or Vegetable Crêpes

Desserts to choose on the day

Chocolate or mango mousse, crème caramel, sweet of the day, fruit salad, Viennetta ice cream, pineapple

Wine, beer, water, soft drinks and coffee included.

Price is €28 per member, €30 for non-members.

Booking will be open from 1st June to 17th July.

First 30 bookings only due to the limited space on the terrace.

Driving Directions

O TASCO lies on the M532 approximately 8 minutes drive north from the Penina Hotel (Portimao). There is parking on a patch of open land opposite the restaurant.

Please note that we have been advised that there will be no restaurant staff present before 19:00, therefore we suggest you do not arrive prior to 19:15 as the only place to wait will likely be in your car! As far as we are aware it will not even be possible to get a drink before 19:15 !!

If using the A22 (from the east or west) then leave at junction 4, follow the short road down to the EN125, keep right onto the EN125 and in a short distance at the roundabout take the first exit – signposted ALCALAR.

Generally from the east continue on the EN125 past the junction for Alvor and the A22, go just past the petrol station and at the roundabout take the first exit – signposted ALCALAR.

From the west continue on the EN125 to the entrance to the Penina Hotel on your right, then at the roundabout take the second exit – signposted ALCALAR.

Follow the M532 for 2.5Km to where it passes over the A22 motorway. Continue on this road for just under 4Km and O Tasco is on the left, parking is on the right.

This will be a repeat of the afternoon tea we very much enjoyed at the
same beautiful venue last September - a lovely way to start our
autumn season of events.

A welcoming glass of Prosecco will be served from 2.00 pm
followed by afternoon tea (see photo) at 2.30 pm

with a mouthwatering spread of:

Assorted selection of finger sandwiches
Freshly made cakes
Scones with jam and cream
Tea to drink (as much as you like) -

and a second glass of Prosecco

Price €20.00 per person (+ €2.00 for non-members and guests)
