C.A.S.A. Events Diary

This page provides information about our forthcoming events, all of which require pre-booking. We normally aim to run 12 to 14 events during the year, numbers at each event may be restricted. Details of recently held events can be found here.

The first section shows the current events for which bookings can be made now. The final section contains advance information about future events which are still in the planning stage - details may change - significantly!

Please note any 'last booking date' shown for an event, if none is shown then we need to receive bookings a minimum of 7 days before the function. Some events may be limited due to facilities' capacities.

Tips/Gratuities:

We have previously included an allowance for this in the advertised price, however following suggestions from members this policy has changed. For all events AFTER the 2024 AGM we will no longer do this. Instead we will 'pass the hat' around towards the end of the event to collect an optional gratuity which will go directly to the staff.

Driving directions to the venue and a road map will normally be added to the description about 10 days before each event. If you want a 'personal' copy of the instructions for an event please use the contact-us page to request a PDF version, at least two days in advance please.

We always try to provide 'GPS' and 'What Three Words' location information, these are usually for the best parking place rather than the inside of a restaurant and may be more accurate than any provided by other sources - we do check them! If using a 'search' function to find an event (e.g. Google a restaurant) make sure it gives you the correct place - there may well be two places with the same name in the same general area.

If neither of these is possible for you then members may contact any committee member who will be happy to help.

Some future events may be available for pre-registration to gage interest and inform the venues of the potential number to expect. No payments will be due until the event is open for booking.

Annual January After-Hangover Lunch

We’re kicking off the new year with one of our personal favorites—Val Verde in Praia da Luz—a first-ever venue for CASA, and a truly charming debut at that. The manager outdid herself, curating a menu designed to coax even the most stubborn post-holiday spirits back to life. We will meet at 1 pm for a welcome drink and 1:30 lunch, on January 10th, 2026.

Here’s the tempting lineup she’s prepared:

We’ll ease into things with a welcome glass of bubbly, paired with a classic Portuguese couvert—the perfect nudge to remind you that January isn’t all penance and resolutions.

Starters

Choose one:

Sopa de Legumes – Homemade vegetable soup, warm and comforting.

Sopa de Canja – Traditional chicken soup, the cure-all for practically anything.

Main Courses

A trio of delicious choices:

Lombo no Forno com Ameixas – Tender pork bathed in a plum sauce, served with oven-roasted potatoes and vegetables.

Dourada Filete – Golden bream fillets with potatoes and vegetables.

Lasanha Vegetariana – A hearty vegetarian lasagna paired with salad.

Desserts:

In true Algarvian fashion, a sweet crescendo:

Mousse de Chocolate – No translation needed.

Pudim de Laranja – Bright, citrusy, and dangerously addictive.

Torte Algarvia – A regional marvel, coming in a very close second.

Naturally, beer, wine, water, and coffee or tea are all included—all for the astonishingly wallet-friendly price of 35 Euros (40 for non-members).

Val Verde sits along the M-537 (Rua da Praia), on the left-hand, ocean-facing side. Parking is plentiful, though be warned: the entrance ramp boasts a dramatic angle capable of testing both your suspension system and your dental work if taken too enthusiastically. The restaurant is also very accessible for those with mobility considerations.

In short, it’s the kind of place you visit once and immediately wonder why you haven’t been going for years.

A new venue for CASA!

Time: 10:45 for 11:00 start – 15:00 end

• Discover the history of this family run winery and farm. We start

with a guided tour of the vineyards, followed by the winery,

where the wine is produced and aged. At the end of the visit, you will taste 4 wines accompanied by a selection of canapés, cheeses and cold cuts, in a self-service format.

A new venue for CASA!
